**Position Information**:
Doonside Public School is a vibrant educational institution catering to the needs of 304 students from diverse backgrounds, including children with 40 languages and 28 cultural backgrounds. The school's significant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population amounts to 17.5%, while 57.4% of students come from non-English speaking backgrounds.
The teaching staff at Doonside Public School vary in experience levels, ranging from early career teachers to more experienced educators. To support student learning, two Aboriginal Education Officers are employed for both preschool and K-6 settings.
The classroom composition consists of one preschool, ten mainstream classes, and three multi-categorical support classes for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis. Our local community benefits from government and non-government agencies' collaboration.
Our preschool serves not only our community but also local and non-local Aboriginal students as a Regional resource. All aspects of the school's Situational Analysis and Strategic Improvement Plan have been developed through community consultation.
Based on the findings of our Situational Analysis and community consultation, we identified the following areas for ongoing improvement:
- Aspirational targets for all students, including equity groups, in Literacy, Numeracy, well-being, and attendance.
- Explicit systems to enrich pedagogical practice through evidence-based approaches, enhancing the learning environment and academic outcomes.
