About the Role

This influential role shapes decision-making, supports culturally appropriate casework and embeds Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principles in our work. A compelling opportunity to advance meaningful services for the community.

We seek a motivated and experienced leader who identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander to join our dedicated team and help deliver impactful services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice and management on practice in working with Aboriginal children/young people, parents and carers, and offer assistance in complex circumstances
  • Support the implementation of evidence-informed approaches into culturally suitable practice, mentoring staff in a coordinated manner
  • Promote collaborative case management that respects culture and circumstances, involving partner agencies where necessary
  • Develop professional development opportunities for team members, including group supervision, reflective practice sessions and regular debriefing

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Social Science or Early Education (equivalent experience considered)
  • Ability to use a culturally appropriate approach in implementing intervention models, empowering young people and promoting family engagement
  • Demonstrated knowledge of therapeutic services for young people and their families, including Victims of Crime Counselling Services
  • Understanding of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principles
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective negotiation and conflict resolution
