Job Opportunity for Senior Database Admin Infrastructure Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Database Admin Infrastructure Engineer to join our team on a long-term contract basis.

  • Administer database configuration, security, schema, and objects to ensure compliance against agreed standards and guidelines.
  • Manage data management processes including initial loading, creating, maintaining, and distributing data.
  • Implement corrective actions to improve performance and availability of databases.
  • Design and plan operational backup, archival, and recovery activities, as well as cyclical disaster recovery exercises.
  • Evaluate and escalate unresolved system issues to appropriate vendors or stakeholders and manage these in accordance with agreed service level agreements to minimize user/system downtime.
  • Develop processes, security measures, standards, and best practices aimed at enhancing the availability, security, and performance of data assets.
  • Analyze and prepare corporate and technical documentation.
Requirements:

Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in Mainframe Db2 Database Administration.

  • Demonstrated experience in upgrading DB2 to V13.
  • Demonstrated experience in migration of ObjectStar Table data store to DB2 on Z/OS.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, maintaining, and optimizing DB2 databases.
  • Demonstrated experience with monitoring and diagnostics using Omegamon and query monitor.
  • Experience with rolling out maintenance for Db2 across mainframe systems.
  • Experience with z/OS interfaces (ISPF, REXX, JCL etc.).
  • Understanding of z/OS software installation methodologies (SMP/E etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience with IBM Db2 tools (Recovery expert, clone tool etc.).
