We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Culinary Specialist to join our team at Melbourne Airport.
About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for a culinary professional to work in a modern, state-of-the-art production facility, preparing high-quality meals for domestic and international airline customers.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare hot and cold meals according to precise recipes and inspired dishes from menus tailored to each of our airline partners.
- Handle bulk ingredients and work on mise en place.
- Responsible for stock control and minimizing food wastage.
- Follow instructions from your section leader or senior chefs with assigned tasks.
- Work collaboratively with teams of Catering Attendants and Production Leading Hands to fulfill daily work orders.
- Clean and maintain a hygienic work station and kitchen environment at all times.
- Strictly follow menu specifications (accurately following recipes, portioning, food prep) as well as Food Safety / HACCP, WHS, and QA guidelines.
What You Need to Succeed:
- Certificate III Commercial Cookery or higher qualifications required.
- PASSION and drive to deliver high-quality food to our customers.
- Ability to work a flexible 7-day rotating roster.
- Understanding of ingredients and experience cooking Asian Cuisine such as Japanese, Thai, Malay, Nyonya, or Cantonese recipes.
- Understanding of written and verbal English, able to follow recipes and communicate.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Motivated, hardworking, and good attitude.
- Ability to work under pressure in a very busy kitchen.
- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen environment preferred.
- As you will be working in the Aviation Services industry, you will be required to obtain a clear National Police Check.
