Culinary Specialist Opportunity

The position of Culinary Specialist is a vital role within the hotel's culinary team.

Located in the Melbourne CBD, this specialist will be responsible for assisting with the smooth operation of the hotel's kitchens through supervision of team members and delivering exceptional dining experiences.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Providing training and development to junior chefs
  • Maintaining a clean and organized working area
  • Fostering positive relationships between back-of-house and front-of-house staff
  • Assisting with shift management and ensuring basic kitchen standards are met when senior colleagues are offsite
  • Adhering to all prescribed hotel policies and food safety standards
  • Maintaining the quality and quantity of all dishes served

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 2+ years' experience working in high-end restaurants or hotels
  • Experience with Modern Australian and Classic European cuisine preferred
  • Certificate IV Commercial Cookery or higher
  • HACCP and local Food Safety Handling & Hygiene knowledge
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with ability to train junior staff and manage kitchen sections
  • Flexibility to work on a 24/7 roster
  • Proficient computer skills, particularly in MS Office
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
