We are seeking a Senior Engineer to lead strategic engineering initiatives that support power system security and reliability.

This role is part of the WA Future System Engineering team, which leads the design and delivery of strategic engineering initiatives under the SWIS Engineering Roadmap Program.

  • As a Senior Engineer, you will provide technical leadership for the delivery of system design and transformation initiatives.
  • You will provide engineering expertise to support reform development and implementation.
  • You will present AEMO's latest technical understanding from the SWIS Engineering Roadmap to participants, market bodies, governments and a wider non-technical audience.
  • You will informally lead one to two subject matter experts.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of the operation and planning of large power systems.
  • Demonstrated experience making innovation happen.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills sufficient to review, critique and approve the modelled outcomes that underpin key messages to stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience managing various stakeholders with conflicting interests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of strategic engineering initiatives.
  • Provide engineering expertise for reform development and implementation.
  • Presentation of AEMO's technical understanding to stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • Experience in leading engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of power system operation and planning.
  • Analytical skills for reviewing and approving modelled outcomes.
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders.
