About the Counsellor Position

The Strong Women for Healthy Country Network seeks a highly skilled and compassionate Counsellor to support Indigenous women caring for Country in remote communities across the Northern Territory. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated professional to make a meaningful impact in the lives of women and contribute to the vision of a healthy and thriving Country.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide in-person, over-the-phone, and virtual counselling and mediation services to women caring for Country.
  • Deliver mental health first aid training to support staff and mentors at workshops and forums.
  • Create safe spaces for support staff and mentors to connect and share their experiences.
  • Support the delivery of regional healing camps and workshops.
  • Assist employers in creating safer and more respectful workplaces.

Essential Selection Criteria

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
  • Possession of or the ability to obtain mental health first aid instructor accreditation.
  • Eligibility for APS, AASW, or other equivalent counselor/therapist professional memberships.
  • Possession of or the ability to obtain a Northern Territory working with children (Ochre) check.
