Insurance Associate, 1-4PQE

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Associate to join our Brisbane office. The ideal candidate will have between 1-4 years' post-qualification experience and a strong background in insurance litigation. This role will provide opportunities to work with major global insurers and reinsurers, as well as construction, engineering, and financial professionals.
Key Responsibilities- Defend litigated claims against professionals, including engineers, certifiers, and other construction professionals, accountants, valuers, IT professionals, and barristers.
- Advise on coverage and monitoring of claims for construction professionals, D&C contractors, and various professionals for both Australian and London-based underwriters.
- Advise clients on policy coverage issues and quantum across various types of insurance, from mid-size losses to large and complex claims.
- Draft and review policy wordings and provide advice on areas of legal risk for clients.
- Assist Partners in managing and building client relationships, including assisting with business development activities for key existing clients and new clients.
You will be an established Associate level lawyer in Australia, New Zealand, or overseas, particularly the UK, with the following core competencies:
- A strong litigation background gained from a leading private practice law firm.
- Ideally exposure to some or all of the types of matters detailed above.
- Strong academic credentials, self-driven with excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Strong time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work independently.
- Commercial awareness and desire to grow and develop under the guidance of the Partner and senior lawyers in building rapport with clients to gain a better understanding of their business' needs.
- Desire to work in a positive team and office atmosphere.
