About this Role

The National Situation Room Watch Floor team is led by a Second-in-charge, Information Supervisor who assists the Shift Manager in managing the team. This role develops complex products while undertaking product quality assurance, and is responsible for on-shift training and upskilling of the team.

The Information Supervisor contributes to the effective functioning of the National Security Hotline and undertakes project work under the direction of the Shift Manager. The role is a designated full-time shift work position requiring duties to be performed on a 24/7 rotational roster, including days, nights, weekends, and public holidays. Attractive shift work penalties apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor incoming agency feeds, open source media, and the NSR's incident and information systems to produce briefing products for senior executive decision makers and Australian Government and jurisdictional agencies.
  • Take National Security Hotline calls relating to matters of national security and accurately record and report that information.
  • Prepare and log information accurately into the NSH database and forward to relevant agencies.
  • Approve NSH call reports when required.
  • Draft, and supervise the drafting of, written briefing products based on collected information.
  • Develop routine event notifications in the Incident Management System.

Skill Requirements

We are looking for a self-driven leader with broad staff management experience who enjoys working in an evolving environment. Ideal candidates will have sound knowledge of Australia's crisis management arrangements or the ability to quickly acquire such knowledge. Proficiency in IT use, excellent written and verbal communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to lead and motivate the team are essential.
