About the Role

This position involves leading a research team to develop an artificial intelligence-based foundation model tool-box. The successful applicant will join a collaborative environment with experienced researchers and contribute to developing a wide range of historical, global and regional weather and climate data.

The role offers opportunities for professional growth and development in a supportive team environment. You will work closely with senior colleagues to establish a personal research portfolio and support PhD students working on the project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute strongly to the technical development of an artificial intelligence-based foundation model toolbox.
  • Engage in collaborative research with the existing team and lead key components at an internationally competitive level.
  • Establish a personal research portfolio and mentor PhD students working on the project.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a PhD in a related discipline and advanced skills in Python or C++ programming. Experience in developing and fine-tuning foundation models is highly desirable.

You must demonstrate a proven commitment to proactively keeping up-to-date with discipline knowledge and developments. A track record of collaborative coding and code sharing is also essential.

The ideal candidate will have high-level communication skills and the ability to network effectively and interact with a diverse range of students and staff.

This fixed-term, full-time position (35 hours per week) offers a salary plus 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading.

The successful applicant will also have access to health and safety policies and procedures and be supported to attend relevant training.
