About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Test and Evaluation Supervisor to join our Underground Technology Global Integration Testing Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the development of test plans for on-machine evaluation of software releases and new features.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with stakeholders to ensure schedule, process, and quality goals are met.
  • Develop and manage test plans for on-machine evaluation of software releases and new features.
  • Manage new product integration on machines and new system deployments to the proving ground.
  • Lead a team of test engineers in executing test cases, including operation of underground mining machines, autonomy systems, and technology under test at Caterpillar Proving Grounds.
  • Identify software and system issues on machine, analyze related subsystems, and assign corrective action tasks.
  • Develop emergency containment actions where necessary.
  • Work with subsystem teams to develop interim and permanent containment actions for issues.
  • Document, track, and manage issues in Azure DevOps.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects, including planning of capital expense needs for proving grounds.
  • Occasionally support installation and evaluation of on and off-machine hardware systems.
  • Interface with technology product stakeholders to plan testing schedules and communicate software release plans.
  • Support commercial teams in Caterpillar Proving Grounds customer engagement events.
  • Support training teams for dealer and customer training programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in an accredited engineering or computer science curriculum.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Installation and testing of prototype mining technology hardware.

Desired Skills

  • Good communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience working in an environment with highly functional heavy machinery.
  • Hardware-in-loop or real-system testing experience.
  • Experience with software development tools.
  • Experience of datalink analysis.
  • Experience with wireless communication networks.
  • Team leadership skills, including team building.

On-the-Job Skills

  • Operation of Caterpillar machines (both manual and remote-controlled).
  • Familiarization with CAT Minestar product solutions for underground mining.
  • Testing, troubleshooting, and data collection of underground mining technology equipment.
