Senior Dairy Cattle Stockperson Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Dairy Cattle Stockperson to join our production team in Calivil, VIC 3573. This is a full-time, permanent position that requires strong leadership and communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Plan and Coordinate Milk Production Process: Develop and implement milking shed routines to ensure efficient and effective milk production.
  2. Coordinate Reproductive Programs: Implement artificial insemination and herd fertility management programs to optimize reproductive performance.
  3. Assist in Controlled Breeding Experiments: Collaborate with the team to develop improved livestock strains through controlled breeding experiments.
  4. Implement Calving Procedures: Plan and manage calving procedures to minimize stillbirths and injuries to cows and calves.
  5. Manage Pastures and Crops: Develop and implement plans for pasture and crop management to optimize livestock production.
  6. Analyze Produce: Set and maintain standards of quality for produce.
  7. Supervise Animal Health Programs: Oversee animal health programs and handle sick or injured animals.
  8. Supervise Work Routines: Lead and supervise work routines and staff performance of less experienced employees.
  9. Implement Quality Assurance Procedures: Ensure compliance with quality assurance procedures and maintain relevant documentation.
  10. Operate Milking Plant and Equipment: Safely operate milking plant and equipment to produce high-quality milk.
  11. Calf Feeding: Feed and care for calves, including tubing colostrum.
  12. Transport and Store Chemicals: Transport, handle, and store chemicals safely.
  13. Maintain Records: Maintain accurate records for stock and inventory control.
  14. Ensure Food Safety: Comply with food safety regulatory requirements.
  15. Contribute to OHS Requirements: Participate in occupational health and safety initiatives.
  16. Computer Literacy: Operate computer equipment and software packages.
  17. Emergency Response: Respond to emergencies related to occupational health and safety and animal welfare.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • AQF Certificate III in Agriculture/Dairy Production (or higher equivalent)
  • Three years of recent and relevant work experience
