Academic Lecturer in Popular Culture

Role Overview
The Lecturer in Popular Culture and/or Music Industry will contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School of Media and Communication at RMIT University. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including online delivery, and producing high-quality curriculum or program materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including online delivery, and produce high-quality curriculum or program materials.
- Undertake course coordination roles and contribute to the development of the School's research areas.
- Work effectively and negotiate sensitively with students, especially on issues related to effective learning.
- Develop emerging research initiatives and contribute to the School's research culture.
Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including online delivery.
- Ability to undertake course coordination roles and contribute to the development of the School's research areas.
- Demonstrated capacity to work effectively and negotiate sensitively with students, especially on issues related to effective learning.
- Emerging track record of quality research outputs that contribute to existing Discipline and School research areas.
Desirable Attributes
- Ability to supervise higher degree by research candidates and develop new research initiatives.
- Success in competitive research funding and demonstrated links within industries related to Popular Culture and/or Music.
Qualifications
PhD in a relevant field is mandatory. Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
