About the Role

The Lecturer in Popular Culture and/or Music Industry will contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School of Media and Communication. This role involves preparing and delivering courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including online delivery, and producing high-quality curriculum or program materials.

As a key member of the teaching team, you will be responsible for course coordination roles, working effectively with students, especially on issues related to effective learning. You will also have the opportunity to develop new research initiatives and supervise higher degree by research candidates.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including online delivery, and the ability to produce high-quality curriculum or program materials.
  • Ability to undertake course coordination roles.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively, and to negotiate sensitively, with students, especially on issues related to effective learning.
  • Emerging track record of quality research outputs which will contribute to existing Discipline and School research areas, evidenced by publications.

Requirements

  • PhD in a relevant field.
  • A strong background in popular culture and/or music industry, with expertise in teaching and research.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team.

Benefits

  • Salary Academic Level B ($110,868 - $131,659) + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements.
  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus.
