Job Title: AI Research Officer

La Trobe University seeks a talented researcher to join our team as an AI Research Officer.

About the Position:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced researcher to work on research relating to Artificial Intelligence in the diagnosis of skin cancers for RISE4SkinCancer: A solution-focused approach to integrating care.

The successful candidate will primarily work on developing and testing a model that builds primary care capacity and improves access to care in a financially viable, cost-effective manner. In doing so, RISE4SkinCancer plans to improve the quality of life for people living in the Loddon Mallee Region with skin cancer and provide valuable evidence to narrow the unacceptable gap in skin cancer mortality and morbidity between rural and metropolitan Australians.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct team research within the relevant field and develop research expertise relevant to the particular field of research.
  • Work effectively under limited supervision or independently.
  • Contribute to publications, conference papers and/or reports, or professional or technical contributions which provide evidence of research potential.
  • Interact effectively with people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
  • Work collaboratively as a member of a team in a cooperative and collegial manner.
  • Develop and implement AI solutions for healthcare applications.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a Master's degree or a PhD in AI or computer science or other relevant discipline.
  • Evidence of experience in research and evaluation.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of AI in healthcare.

This is a fixed term opportunity until 31 December 2029. The appointment is Level A Academic (Research only).
