Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Research Officer to join our accomplished research team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in criminal law and excellent research skills, with the ability to work effectively in a small team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research on various topics related to criminal law, including sentencing patterns and current legal issues.
  • Prepare high-quality draft material for publication by the Commission, focusing on trends in criminal law and sentencing practices.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior members of the team as needed.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in law plus a minimum of four (4) years' experience in the practice of criminal law.
  • Demonstrated expertise in conducting criminal law matters, with a strong understanding of sentencing law, evidence law, and criminal practice and procedure.
  • High level oral and written communication skills, including the ability to produce legal text to a standard suitable for publication.
  • Supervisory experience in a legal office environment, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team.
