Open Spaces Operations Manager

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead the operational delivery of open space services, implement strategic improvements, and inspire a high-performing team to achieve outcomes that meet community, environmental, and organisational expectations.

Key responsibilities include leading the planning, prioritisation, and delivery of operations across parks, reserves, sports fields, beaches, and natural areas. Additionally, overseeing maintenance programs, monitoring budgets, and managing resources to ensure efficient and sustainable service delivery.

Providing guidance, mentorship, and performance support to staff to build a high-performing, motivated, and innovative team. Engaging with the community, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality services and projects. Monitoring compliance with safety, environmental, and council policies, driving continuous improvement in operational practices.

Preparing reports, briefings, and updates for senior leadership to support strategic decision-making and operational planning. This role requires tertiary qualifications or extensive experience in horticulture, environment, parks and open space management, or related fields. Proven experience in operational management, including planning, budgeting, and resourcing of open space and natural assets.

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to engage with staff, contractors, and stakeholders effectively. Demonstrated ability to anticipate challenges, assess risks, and make sound decisions in a dynamic environment. Experience managing multiple workstreams, competing priorities, and achieving outcomes on time and to quality standards. Knowledge of WHS, environmental legislation, and compliance requirements.
