We are seeking an accomplished Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist to join our team at the Tanami mine site in Western Australia.

About the Role

This senior position is responsible for managing and implementing all health, safety and environmental requirements. Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying improvements or updates for safety & training needs for all departments
  • Ensuring compliance with operational procedures
  • Maintaining a training needs analysis for the organization
  • Coordination of all training for personnel
  • Ensuring accurate filing and maintenance of training documentation for all personnel
  • Ensuring all project environmental requirements are met
  • Coordination and participation in workplace inspection schedules on site including tracking personnel participation levels
  • Conducting rehabilitation and return to work coordinators duties on site including compiling documentation, managing injured workers, consulting with health professionals
  • Conducting risk assessment and JSA training
  • Preparing and conducting toolbox and safety meetings
  • Assisting operations with risk management processes on site such as JSA's and risk assessments
  • Conducting investigations for incidents as required on site within designated time frames
  • Ensuring correct reporting of all reportable incidents that occur on site within designated time frames
  • Providing advice on Workplace Health and Safety legislative requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent, demonstrated people management experience, knowledge of safety management and systematic approach, and current knowledge of relevant Workplace Health and Safety and Workers' Compensation legislation.

We seek a highly skilled professional with good communication skills, both verbal and written, solid planning and organisational skills to schedule and allocate training, ability to problem solve and be adaptable, attention to detail ensuring all standards and compliance are met, and a drive for continuous improvement and innovation.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
  • Demonstrated people management experience
  • Knowledge of safety management and systematic approach
  • Current knowledge of relevant Workplace Health and Safety and Workers' Compensation legislation
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Solid planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to problem solve and be adaptable
  • Attention to detail ensuring all standards and compliance are met
