Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled butcher to prepare, trim and present meat products in line with hygiene and safety standards.

The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of meat cuts, preparation methods and small goods production.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Remove bones, trim fat, cut, mince and grind meat to meet presentation standards.
  2. Produce sausages, cold cuts, marinated or seasoned meats and other value-added offerings.
  3. Operate grinders, slicers, sausage machines, smokers and other processing equipment.
  4. Inspect, weigh, label, package and price products accurately.
  5. Serve and advise customers on meat selections and preparation methods.
  6. Maintain clean, hygienic work and display areas in keeping with food safety guidelines.
  7. Design and refresh attractive meat displays.
  8. Support functions including production planning, menu scheduling and cost estimation.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant butchery experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of meat cuts, preparation methods and small goods production.
  • Skilled in using meat processing machinery.
  • Strong commitment to hygiene, food safety and cleanliness.
  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity for manual handling tasks.
  • Ability to work efficiently both alone and as part of a team.
  • Certificate III in Meat Processing or equivalent apprenticeship preferred.
