About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Solutions Architect to join our Data Platform team in Melbourne. As a Solutions Architect, you will be responsible for the comprehensive oversight of data products developed on Orica's multi-cloud platform.

The role involves setting strategic directions, developing and managing data products, and bridging the gap between business needs and technical execution. You will translate complex requirements into actionable designs for developers to execute, ensuring that Orica's data infrastructure remains secure, scalable, and capable of delivering premium data to meet the essential needs of the company's diverse business, IT, and technology sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret business stakeholder needs and convert them into technical solutions
  • Craft and manage comprehensive data products and platform architectures that align with business and IT goals
  • Select suitable technologies, manage APIs, collaborate with data platform engineers, and establish data governance practices with data stewards to ensure solution accuracy and consistency
  • Lead a performance culture, drive inclusivity, and promote collaboration across teams to align with strategic directions and Orica's vision
  • Stay current with data platform technologies, contribute to capacity planning, and drive innovation within the data platform team
  • Build strong relationships with business stakeholders, assist with proof of value/concept engagements, and ensure compliance with Orica's standards and IT strategy

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in an IT-related discipline
  • 10+ years in IT with experience in at least 2 of the following domains (SAP, Data Management, ETL, Data Analytics, Data Visualisation, Data Warehouse, Data Lake, Cloud Data Services, API management)
  • Experience working for global organisations leveraging modern ways of working including Agile and DevOps
  • Familiar with key data and automation platforms and providers in the market and their strength/weakness
  • Strong planning skills to conduct planning and forecasts
  • Proven experience working with a multi-sourced team of employees, contractors, and multiple vendors
  • Demonstrated experience and competency in API / integration management methodologies
  • Demonstrated problem solving and remediation skills
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to communicate to technical and non-technical audience
  • Initiative to anticipate situations and problems and ability to advise on appropriate workarounds and solutions
