Job Overview

This role involves assisting scientists in a busy laboratory environment. You will be responsible for routine receipting and processing of specimens, including operation and maintenance of analysers.

About the Role
  • Routine receipting and processing of specimens;
  • Pre and post-analytical specimen handling;
  • Identification and prioritisation of urgent specimens;
  • Filing and storage of specimens and data entry;
  • Assisting scientists in the lab as required;
  • Continuous learning of processing requirements of different types of samples for different tests;
  • Staying up to date with processing updates;
  • Responding to results, sample requirements, and general queries;
  • Identifying and resolving problems at the pre-analytic stage;
About You
  • You will need to have a great blend of skills, including:
  • Specimen processing and data entry experience;
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills;
  • The ability to cope and thrive in a busy environment;
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and work as a team;
  • Understanding the importance of following procedures accurately;
  • A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures;
  • Previous laboratory experience and exposure to medical terminology would be desirable but not essential;
  • Certificate III in Laboratory Techniques or Pathology Collection is desirable;
