Job Description

The Networking team is constantly innovating, pushing new scale and features into cloud and desktop platforms. Our infrastructure is being transformed to meet the growing needs of Artificial Intelligence infrastructure and thousands of customers using Azure Services.


As a Senior Software Engineer in the Software Defined Networking team, you will work on unique projects that will shape the future of software services for networking scenarios. The outcome will directly impact supporting the scale and pace needed for innovating on requirements of Artificial Intelligence workloads.


You will be responsible for defining, driving execution, and adoption of different features and capabilities in the core Azure Networking stack with significant business impact. You will have opportunities to work in broad technical areas and across component teams inside Microsoft Azure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to determine user requirements.
  • Drive identification of dependencies and develop design documents.
  • Create, implement, optimize, debug, refactor, and reuse code to establish and improve performance and maintainability.
  • Leverage subject-matter expertise of product features and partner with stakeholders to drive project plans and work items.
  • Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guide other engineers by developing and following playbooks, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiate actions to restore system/product/service for simple and complex problems when appropriate.
  • Proactively seek new knowledge and adapt to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
