We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Officer to join our team at the Australian Department of Infrastructure. As a Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for accurately processing a wide range of salary, leave, and entitlement-related transactions, in accordance with relevant legislation, delegations, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Accurately process salary, leave, and entitlement-related transactions
- Provide internal clients and managers with general advice and guidance on leave, timesheets, and employee-related documentation
- Assist with processes to ensure taxation, superannuation, and payroll deductions are correctly calculated, paid, and reported
- Undertake salary and/or leave reconciliation tasks
- Prepare and send payroll-related correspondence to employees
- Maintain personnel and leave records in an accurate and timely manner
- Experience working in a team performing payroll-related tasks
- Experience in, or ability to quickly learn, SAP (SAP ECC6)
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, including attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to manage competing priorities
- Experience in preparing correspondence and reports, including emails and letters
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a small team
- Networking opportunities across the department and wider APS

- Flexible working arrangements, including part-time hours and home-based work
Eligibility requirements include Australian citizenship, and the successful candidate must be able to obtain and/or maintain a security clearance at Baseline Clearance Level.
