About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to lead our technical team in driving modern engineering and DevOps practices at Shell Energy. As a key member of our Digital domain, you will be responsible for the technical leadership of a squad of engineers, driving innovation and delivering enterprise solutions that meet the needs of our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the technical development, growth, and direction of all deployment automation, continuous integration, and quality assurance practices;
  • Be accountable for the day-to-day operation of the supported applications;
  • Manage technical and security compliance to engineering standards and reduce technical debt;
  • Support the development, estimation, and implementation of the platform roadmap;
  • Monitor and manage the performance and availability of the platform;
  • Lead a team of engineers, provide technical mentorship, and manage performance within that team;
  • Collaborate with the broader engineering practice to continually lift the quality and value of the overall digital technology business unit.
Requirements
  • Deep application development experience in C# and.NET;
  • Real-world experience supporting and scaling MS SQL Server solutions;
  • React, Typescript, and Node experience;
  • Expertise in AWS Cloud, including infrastructure, infrastructure as code, compute, storage, data, virtualisation, and integrations;
  • Experience with modern engineering practices, including branching strategies, testing, CI/CD, and instrumentation;
  • Experience with scaling options and resource configuration;
  • Track record with a variety of architectural patterns, including event-driven platforms;
  • Experience applying integration technologies, including messaging middleware and modern API-driven approaches;
  • Experience with metrics and monitoring, such as Datadog or similar solutions;
  • Experience within the Energy industry vertical or related field.
