Accounts Receivable professionals are essential to any organization, as they manage the process of collecting payments from customers. This role is crucial for maintaining a positive cash flow and ensuring that businesses can continue to operate efficiently.

Job Description:

This position involves managing allocated credit and cash customer accounts, fulfilling all accounts receivable functions. The primary responsibility is to collect freight and demurrage outstanding amounts within a specified timeframe, typically 14 days.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparing weekly debtors reports for management to ensure timely payments
  • Monitoring all Accounts Receivable activities to guarantee compliance with established procedures and processes
  • Liaising with external debt collections firms and solicitors to recover outstanding payments
  • Managing customer master data account information to maintain accurate records
  • Sending Weekly/Monthly SOA statement reconciliations to customers to prevent discrepancies
  • Developing and maintaining strong customer relationships, including resolving queries in a professional manner
  • Assisting with month-end reporting and year-end external audit to ensure financial accuracy
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to achieve organizational goals and objectives
  • Effectively managing timely collections from overdue customers to minimize bad debt
  • Updating weekly and monthly cash flow forecast & credit analysis to inform business decisions
  • Reviewing aged debtors & credit note reporting and analysis to identify areas for improvement
Requirements:
  • A degree in Commerce or Accounting, or equivalent qualification
  • Proven experience in a full-function accounts receivable role, with a minimum of 3 years' experience
  • Intermediate level of Excel skills, including VLOOKUP and pivot tables
  • A positive attitude and proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Desirable: exposure to shipping operations
