Nomad Atomics seeks a world-renowned expert in atomic, molecular and optical physics to drive our research and development program forward. We are on a mission to push the limits of quantum sensing beyond what is currently thought possible.

Job Description

We are building the world's most advanced fit-for-purpose quantum sensors to enable groundbreaking discoveries. As part of our cross-functional team, you will be responsible for managing and driving this program from conception to deployment. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical guidance and directions to a team of physicists and engineers
  • Designing and prototyping optical, mechanical and electronics subsystems
  • Optimizing and ruggedizing atomic sensors for practical applications
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need to possess:

  • A minimum PhD in atomic, molecular or quantum physics
  • Familiarity with laser spectroscopy, laser-cooling and atom interferometry of atomic species
  • Aptitude towards programming and automation, preferably with Python for lab instrumentation, control systems and data analysis
  • Expertise with ultra-high vacuum systems
  • Narrow linewidth lasers and frequency stabilization
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
