Overview:

This role involves managing all aspects of sustainability, including social and community engagement. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with key community stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of environmental compliance and regulations, as well as experience in developing and implementing Environmental and Social Management Systems (ESMS).

  • Developing and implementing an ESMS compliant with IFC Performance Standard 3.
  • Ensuring environmental compliance with provincial environmental regulations.
  • Overseeing environmental monitoring programs for air quality, noise, waste, biodiversity, and land use.
  • Managing internal and external environmental reporting obligations.
  • Leading risk assessments and emergency response planning for environmental incidents.
  • Supervising contractor environmental performance and conducting routine audits and inspections.
  • Actively contributing to the region's Journey to Zero.

The successful candidate will have a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Social Development, Natural Resource Management, or a related discipline. A minimum of 10 years' experience in environmental and social performance in large-scale infrastructure projects is required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Proven experience in managing environmental and social impacts in remote or rural settings is essential. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
