Pathways to Becoming an Army Officer

There are two pathways to becoming an Army Officer:

  • Start your career at the Royal Military College (RMC) where you will learn the skills and knowledge to lead, mentor and inspire teams of highly capable soldiers in any situation.
  • Alternatively, if you're interested in completing a university degree first, you can study at the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA). Here you'll find a healthy balance between academic study towards a degree of your choice and military training that will prepare you for life in the Army. Upon graduating, you'll attend RMC to complete your leadership training.
