About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Approval Officer to join our team at Queensland Fire and Emergency Services. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our communities through the effective management of building approvals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the building approval process, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and QFD policy.
  • Provide public education and fire prevention advice to communities, promoting fire safety and awareness.
  • Inspect building special fire services to ensure compliance with building development approvals, regulations, and QFD policy.
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, codes, and standards, staying up-to-date with Community Safety Operations initiatives nationally and internationally.
  • Represent QFD to industry, community, and government groups, promoting a positive image of the organization and resolving Community Safety matters.
Requirements
  • Eligible to apply for, or hold, a current Blue Card.
  • Manual Medium Rigid (MRV) driver's licence as recognized by the Department of Transport and Main Roads.
  • Possess Building Fire Safety Level 3 qualifications or current equivalent.
  • Hold the current position of Senior Firefighter with Station Officer qualifications or hold a Station Officer position; or be eligible for appointment as a Station Officer.
