About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineering and Safety Assurance professional to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of innovative engineering and technology solutions that make lives safe, secure, sustainable, and affordable.

The role involves providing systems and safety engineering expertise for nationally significant Defence projects, delivering systems engineering and safety assurance support for transport and infrastructure projects, digitising systems engineering processes to enhance productivity and efficiency, and implementing machine learning and big data analytics to optimise the management of critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and minimise technical risks to projects using proven Systems Engineering and Assurance approaches throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead Verification and Validation efforts across the project, ensuring user needs are captured and met through design and related activities.
  • Engage and close coordinate with project leadership and stakeholders to ensure technical compliance and support safety case submissions.
  • Facilitate workshops to identify risks and controls to enhance Systems Safety, RAM, Human Factors implementation in design and delivery.
  • Develop technical management plans, systems architecture, configuration and change management processes, and integrate with external projects and stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Australian Citizenship or eligible for Australian Defence security clearance (essential).
  • Bachelor of Engineering/Science Degree.
  • Experience within regulated industries/frameworks (e.g., Defence, transport, nuclear, pharmaceuticals) (desirable).
  • Systems engineering knowledge and experience (desirable).
  • System safety and assurance experience (desirable).
  • Professional body membership (e.g., Engineers Australia, INCOSE/SESA) (highly regarded).
  • Experienced in applying systems engineering tools (e.g., DOORS, MBSE tools) (highly regarded).
  • Excellent communications, client management/stakeholder engagement (highly regarded).
