Job Overview

The Pain Management and Research Centre is a cutting-edge ambulatory service that provides holistic, interdisciplinary care for patients suffering from persistent pain. Our team consists of medical and allied health professionals who work together to assess and treat chronic pain using cognitive behavioural principles.

  • We collaborate with the Anaesthesia department at The Alfred to provide expert management of chronic pain sufferers across acute and sub-acute services.
  • We run various pain-focused research programs and have a strong reputation as a leader in providing evidence-based specialist chronic pain assessment and treatment.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the operational management of the Pain Service, working closely with the Medical Head of Unit to ensure clinical oversight and high-quality patient care.

  • They will monitor the operational efficiency of the service to achieve operational and financial targets.
  • The Manager will also oversee the research programs conducted in the service in collaboration with the Medical Head of Unit.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • a relevant Allied Health or Nursing qualification;
  • eligibility for registration or membership of the relevant professional body;
  • at least 10 years of postgraduate experience;
  • demonstrated experience in managing multidisciplinary healthcare teams;
  • highly developed negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills;
  • highly developed change management skills;
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • an understanding of the healthcare sector and our strategic direction;
  • demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development;
  • and a postgraduate qualification relevant to the position (highly desirable).
