Join Our Team as a Principal Marine Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Marine Consultant to join our innovative team of environmental professionals at BMT Defence Services LTD.

As a Principal Marine Consultant, you will play a key role in leading and inspiring our team to deliver high-quality solutions that balance ecological integrity with sustainable development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage environmental consultants to deliver high-quality solutions
  • Provide expert guidance to clients on environmental regulations, compliance, and best practices
  • Conduct thorough environmental impact assessments to identify risks and recommend effective mitigation measures
  • Develop and implement innovative sustainable environmental management plans and strategies
  • Establish strong connections with clients, government agencies, and stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor
  • Stay ahead of environmental trends, policies, and regulations to inform decision-making and drive success
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marine/Environmental Science or other relevant area of study
  • More than 10 years' relevant experience in environmental consulting, focusing on complex project management
  • Expertise in environmental impact assessments and compliance with Australian legislation
  • Strong project management skills to prioritize effectively and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences
  • Natural leadership with experience in mentoring and motivating teams
  • Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Environmental Practitioner) are highly regarded
  • Post-graduate degree (Honours, Masters, Ph D) in relevant field
  • Experience working within the scientific, engineering or resources sector
  • Post-graduate qualifications in environmental management or other relevant area of study
  • Willingness to conduct fieldwork in remote areas
  • Demonstrated business development skills
  • Ability to coach and mentor junior staff
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously
