About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Family Support Practitioner to join our team at Latrobe City Council. As an Enhanced Family Support Practitioner, you will play a critical role in ensuring families have a voice and are empowered to make informed decisions about their lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide advocacy and support to families to address social justice, human rights, and social change issues.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive and focused approaches to early intervention and prevention of physical, emotional, and social issues affecting young children and their families.
  • Ensure timely referrals for children and support for families, as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with community agencies and services to provide wrap-around support to families.
  • Conduct home visits and provide individualized support to families, as required.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or above qualification in Community and/or Social Services.
  • Registration with Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or completion of an Australian Community Workers Association (ACWA) accredited course.
  • Experience working with vulnerable families with children in the 0-6 years age range.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Current Driver's Licence.
