Job Opportunity: Medical Scientist

The Royal Children's Hospital is seeking a Medical Scientist to join their team. The successful applicant will be responsible for performing laboratory duties, including specimen reception, diagnostic andrology testing, and cryopreservation of clinical semen samples.

About the Role:
  • This is a fixed term, part-time role that involves rotating rosters depending on the service needs of the department as directed by senior laboratory staff.
  • The successful applicant will work under the direction and supervision of senior laboratory staff.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Routine diagnostic and clerical duties, including specimen reception and processing.
  • Media preparation, specimen preparation, and instrument and quality control testing.
  • Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on automated and manual instrumentation and equipment.
  • Participate in overall laboratory upkeep and preparation of stock reagents.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science), Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Laboratory Medicine), or equivalent bachelor's degree.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of male reproductive physiology.
  • Postgraduate qualification(s) and research experience.
