Sales Assistant Job Description

Job Description:

As a Sales Assistant, you will be the face of our organisation, providing exceptional customer service and advice to customers while maintaining high visual merchandising standards.

  • Provide customer service, advice and product solutions to meet customer needs
  • Tint paint products to customer requirements with precision and accuracy
  • Manage inventory levels and perform stock control tasks efficiently
  • Process orders in-store and over the phone accurately and promptly
  • Replenish stock, including 15L paint drums, to ensure optimal availability
  • BUILD STRONG RELATIONSHIPS WITH CUSTOMERS AND COLLEAGUES through excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest colour forecasts and product releases to provide expert advice
  • Assist with creating visually appealing displays, store presentation and housekeeping tasks
  • Ensure safe work practices are followed at all times


Key Responsibilities include but not limited to: Maintaining a clean and tidy workplace, Ensuring accurate recording and reporting of sales data, Performing other duties as required by management.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A current driver's licence for local deliveries
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A genuine passion for delivering outstanding customer service
  • Previous experience working in a customer-facing role
  • Experience handling stock and merchandising products
  • The ability to perform manual tasks safely and effectively, including lifting 15L cans of paint
  • Proficiency in Point of Sale (POS) system or technical aptitude
  • Numeracy skills to accurately process transactions and comprehend tint percentages/ratios
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to follow instructions
  • Microsoft Office and Outlook proficiency

Desirable qualifications include:

  • Trade experience
  • Colour and design expertise
