Sheet Metal Specialist

The primary responsibility of this role is to work with metal sheets and perform various tasks related to fabrication, assembly, and finishing.

Key duties include:

  • Reviewing blueprints and customer specifications to determine material requirements.
  • Selecting the right materials grade and thickness for each task.
  • Marking out material using datum points and lines with measuring equipment or templates.
  • Cutting material to required shape along marked lines using hand and power shears, plasma cutters, guillotines, or drills.
  • Shaping and forming of cut parts into required shapes using folding and bending machines, rollers, presses to drawing specifications and tolerances.
  • Fabricating and assembling components into final products, recording datum measurements and welding, riveting, soldering, or brazing where required.
  • Dressing back products by polishing, filling, sanding, cleaning and assembled products.
  • Repairing damaged sheet metal products and components as needed.

Additional skills in aircraft or defence industry experience may require advanced drawing and calculating skills. All additional skills must meet the role requirements.
