Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Underwriter to enhance the QBE Insurance Group's capabilities. This position is pivotal in driving sustainable profitability and growth through expert guidance, strategic direction, and exceptional customer service to our network of Insurance Agents. The Underwriter will evaluate and manage risks in alignment with established business objectives and underwriting protocols.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong commercial acumen, a customer-centric approach, and the ability to foster robust relationships both internally and externally. You should be proactive, resilient, and thrive in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
Your daily activities may include:
- Assessing new business and renewals, providing timely and professional quotations.
- Engaging in strategic meetings to contribute to the development of underwriting strategies and share insights.
- Reviewing and refining underwriting standards and operational procedures.
- Ensuring all documentation is precise and adheres to company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, brokers, and internal teams.
- Evaluating risks associated with new business to ensure profitable outcomes.
- Staying informed about current legislation, best practices, and underwriting standards.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will ideally possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- A background in commercial insurance is advantageous.
- Experience in domestic and landlord insurance is preferred.
- Familiarity with Business Packages and Farm insurance is desirable.
- Ability to adapt to a changing portfolio.
- Established relationships with customers and brokers.
- A comprehensive understanding of underwriting principles and reinsurance.
- Proven awareness of market conditions relevant to specific classes of insurance.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with meticulous attention to detail.
