Job Title: Payroll Services Manager

Job Description:

The Senior Payroll Officer is responsible for delivering accurate, efficient, and compliant payroll services. This includes managing the full payroll cycle end-to-end, from interpreting time and attendance data to preparing payroll system finalisation, right through to banking, payroll clearing, and Single Touch Payroll reconciliation.

This role involves overseeing complex payroll processes, ensuring compliance with legislative and industrial requirements, and taking ownership of end-of-month reporting and reconciliations.

Additionally, this position provides opportunities for mentoring payroll team members, contributing to system improvements, and working on initiatives that enhance the overall employee experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Run payroll end-to-end, including payroll system finalisation through to banking, payroll clearing, and Single Touch Payroll (STP) reconciliation.
  2. Manage time & attendance data integration and interpretation, ensuring accurate flow of information into payroll systems.
  3. Lead payroll compliance activities including PAYG, payroll tax, superannuation, and end-of-month reconciliations.
  4. Provide guidance and subject matter expertise to payroll team members, leaders, and employees.
  5. Support system upgrades, process improvements, and payroll-related projects to drive efficiency and accuracy.
  6. Build strong relationships across the business to deliver high-quality payroll services.
About You:
  • Minimum 5 years' experience managing end-to-end payroll in a medium to large organisation.
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation, taxation, and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience with payroll system finalisation, banking processes, payroll clearing, and STP reporting/reconciliation.
  • Experience with time & attendance (T&A) data integration, interpretation, and end-of-month processes.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to resolve complex payroll queries.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to coach and mentor others.
  • Proficiency in payroll systems such as Chris21, SAP, SuccessFactors, or similar enterprise platforms.
