Design Educator and Researcher Opportunity

We are seeking a Design Educator and Researcher to contribute to our academic community at the University of Sydney.

About the Role

This position offers an exciting opportunity to teach and conduct research in Design, with a focus on Sustainable Strategic Social Design.

The Sydney School of Architecture, Design and Planning is a leading centre for intellectual, scientific and creative research, exploring how cities, spaces, buildings, technologies, and services can meet people's needs and society through design.

As a Design Educator and Researcher, you will be part of a team that innovates at the boundaries of disciplines and creates engaging learning experiences for students who will shape the future.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Curriculum Development: Coordinate and teach across our growing design programs, including Bachelor of Design (Interaction Design), Master of Design, and Masters of Interaction Design and Electronic Arts. Develop curriculum and delivery in whole or part of selected core and elective units of study, including design studios where appropriate.
  • Research Contribution: Make a significant research contribution to the School, focusing on social and/or service design, sustainable design, experience and service design, qualitative research in design, design for social impact, user experience design, strategic design innovation, and professional practice in design.
About You
  • You hold a PhD in design or a cognate field, with a strong research profile aligned with the Design discipline's research groups.
  • You have a proven track record of original, high-quality, and independent research within the fields of social and/or service design.
  • You possess a vision for securing research funding as lead investigator and/or part of a team.
  • You have broad experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by participation in team teaching, HDR supervision, and experience in teaching in various settings.
  • You have demonstrated success in designing, implementing, and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives that inform curriculum development.
