About the Role

Westpac Group is seeking a highly skilled Data Insights Leader to play a critical role in supporting strategic decisions within our KYC/AML program.

Salary & Benefits

Job Description

As a Data Insights Leader, you will collaborate with Business Analysts to define data requirements, source information from both standard and unconventional data environments, and deliver clear, actionable insights. You will translate complex business logic into maintainable SQL and Excel processes, ensuring all data outputs are accessible and understandable by non-technical teams.

You will identify opportunities for automation and process improvement, leveraging your data expertise to increase business efficiency. You will prepare detailed status reports and provide data-driven analysis of program performance, presenting multiple approaches with associated pros and cons.

You will take ownership of the technical solutions, overseeing data files for remediation purposes and conducting deep dives into data elements to assess impact. You will engage heavily with stakeholders, including leadership and cross-functional teams, to translate project requirements into effective data flows and reporting.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Extensive experience in data analysis, preferably in a financial crime or financial services setting. Experience in large banks or specialised operations teams is highly valued.
  • Proficiency in SQL (Teradata experience is a plus) and experience in large-scale enterprise data warehouses.
  • Strong skills in data visualisation tools, particularly Power BI, to create meaningful dashboards and reports.
  • Exposure to working with complex business entities, such as Trusts and Partnerships, is a bonus.
  • Experience with the Control-M Automation API to automate scheduling processes and integrate with other enterprise systems.
