Galapagos Sustainable Agriculture and Conservation Intern

This internship presents a unique opportunity to collaborate with a local farm in the Galapagos Islands specializing in sustainable agriculture, food systems, and conservation.

The farm serves as an agro-ecology school and home to the first local seed bank of edible species in the Galapagos. As an intern, you will have the chance to learn methods of sustainable agricultural production and food systems from experts, contribute to the islands' food security, soil conservation, and regeneration, and gain experience in maintenance, design, and implementation of sustainable agriculture systems and permaculture systems.

Main activities may include maintaining vegetable seedbeds, assisting with seed germination processes, constructing apparatuses and designing new permaculture systems, reforesting native or endemic plants, conducting personal research or study, supporting marketing and social media efforts, and participating in language tutoring exchanges with staff and community members.

In addition to these tasks, interns will be involved in various projects, including:

  • Maintaining crop health and implementing integrated pest management strategies.
  • Assisting with workshops and training sessions for local farmers and communities.
  • Conducting environmental monitoring and assessing the impact of sustainable agriculture practices.

The Galapagos Islands offer a unique environment for this internship, providing a chance to work with diverse ecosystems and contribute to the conservation of this fragile ecosystem. This internship is ideal for individuals passionate about sustainable agriculture, conservation, and education.

We are looking for highly motivated and dedicated individuals who can commit to a minimum of three months. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in sustainable agriculture, ecology, or a related field, and excellent communication and teamwork skills.
