Biraban Local Aboriginal Land Council is a leading organisation in the West Lake Macquarie area, dedicated to building and strengthening partnerships with government and non-government organisations to contribute to a positive and sustainable future for the local Aboriginal community.

Our Vision

We strive to create opportunities for employment, housing, Aboriginal culture and heritage conservation, education, training, environmental conservation, community events, and economic developments that benefit our members and the broader community.

The CEO Role

We are seeking a strong business management leader who can build and maintain trust with our members, community, and stakeholders. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in generating revenue, improving systems and governance frameworks, and negotiating with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategies to generate revenue and improve financial management
  • Improve and ensure a solid base of systems, governance frameworks, procedures, and policies are in place
  • Negotiate with various stakeholders to achieve organisational goals
  • Work closely with the Board to establish reporting dashboards, agendas, and action plans
  • Ensure adherence to legislative requirements and maintain up-to-date knowledge of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983 (NSW)
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in business or a related discipline
  • Experience in business management, leadership, and governance
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a Board and stakeholders
  • Knowledge of local Aboriginal issues and the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983 (NSW)
