About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Strategic Planner to join our team at Wingecarribee Shire Council. As a key member of our planning team, you will be responsible for managing complex strategic land use and planning policy projects, including the preparation of strategic plans and amendments to the strategic planning framework.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans and policies that promote sustainable development and a high-quality natural and built environment.
  • Provide timely and effective planning information and inclusive community consultation activities.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of technical professionals on a range of planning projects.
  • Develop and implement project management skills to facilitate the development, implementation, and monitoring of strategic projects, programs, and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify community and stakeholder requirements to guide strategy, policy, plans, and actions.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, Urban and Regional Planning, Urban Design, and/or equivalent.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge and understanding of policies, relevant environmental and planning legislation, and regulations.
  • Experience in a senior role leading a multidisciplinary team of technical professionals on a range of planning projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to critically analyze issues and develop and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external.
