Job Description

We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Full Stack Engineer to join our small and agile team in Sydney, working autonomously from home with intermittent collaboration sessions. As a key member of our engineering team, you'll design, implement, and maintain high-quality applications and features that drive the success of our campaigns.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to assess feasibility and delivery of solutions, defining project requirements and specifications;
  • Conducting code reviews and ensuring adherence to coding standards and practices;
  • Architecting the ongoing technology strategy, considering factors such as risk assessment, scalability, re-usability, and security;
  • Managing and optimizing MySQL databases for high performance and reliability;
  • Ensuring written documentation of features and concepts is maintained and up-to-date;
  • Using monitoring and logging tools to troubleshoot and resolve software issues, ensuring reliable application performance.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Engineer, with in-depth knowledge of JavaScript, modern front-end architecture, and frameworks; PHP8 and Laravel 10, including an understanding of modern PHP best practices;
  • A sound understanding of SDLC processes, SOLID principles, OOP, and design patterns and paradigms;
  • Experience in communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders;
  • A strong growth mindset, willing to take risks, fail, and learn;
  • A passion for social justice and a desire to help Chuffed campaigners succeed.

Bonus points if you have experience working with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tools, particularly Terraform; React, Redux, NextJS, and Typescript; managing AWS services; or demonstrated experience working with GraphQL in a backend and/or frontend environment.
