Job Description

The role of Youth Justice Practitioner is a challenging and rewarding position that requires strong interpersonal skills, a high level of emotional intelligence and the ability to work effectively with young people, families and community groups.

As a Youth Justice Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing high-level interventions and support for young people through diversionary programs, court reports, assessments, case planning and supervision. You will also develop and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders to connect young people to appropriate services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing individualized support to young people in need
  • Developing and implementing effective intervention strategies
  • Working collaboratively with government and non-government agencies
  • Conducting regular assessments and evaluations

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Bachelor Degree (AQF level 7 qualification) in a discipline relevant to the work; or Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (AQF level 5 or 6 qualification) in a discipline relevant to the work, for example Youth Work, Behavioural Science or Community Services
  • Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status – Employment)
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Conviction Checks In The Following Areas: crimes of violence, sex-related offences, serious drug offences, crimes involving dishonesty, serious traffic offences
  • Identification check
  • Disciplinary actions in previous employment check
