Autonomous Mining Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled engineer to design, develop and deploy autonomous mining systems that improve productivity, reduce downtime and enhance safety.

This role involves the integration of robotics, computer vision, control systems and embedded software to create a seamless and efficient autonomous mining experience.

  • Design and develop autonomous haulage algorithms for optimal route planning and execution.
  • Develop and test safety-critical automation systems, including braking, guidance and collision avoidance.
  • Collaborate with computer vision and perception engineers to fuse GNSS, Lidar, radar and camera data for machine navigation.
  • Contribute to digital twin simulations to validate robotics and fleet automation strategies before deployment.
  • Work closely with customers to deploy and validate autonomous systems in live mine environments.

Key Requirements:

  • A degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Control Systems or related engineering field.
  • Strong foundation in robotics, control or automation (modelling, kinematics, motion planning, PID/control theory).
  • Experience with embedded systems, C++/Python or real-time robotics platforms.
  • Ability to work across disciplines (vision, perception, fleet optimisation).
  • Passion for applying robotics to real-world heavy equipment and mining challenges.

Desirable Skills:

  • Exposure to ROS, simulation environments or autonomous vehicle systems.
  • Experience with GNSS, sensor fusion or safety-critical control systems.
  • Previous experience in mining, construction or industrial automation.
