Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Science Laboratory Assistant and Chemical Safety Officer to join our team.

This role is responsible for providing support to teachers in the delivery of Science lessons and experiments, ensuring all lab equipment is in clean and good working condition, and maintaining stock including storage and handling of hazardous substances according to safety guidelines.

  • Assist teachers with lesson preparation and experiment setup, ensuring materials are available and equipment is properly maintained.
  • Conduct regular checks on lab equipment, perform maintenance when required, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Manage stock levels, including ordering supplies and inventorying chemicals and equipment, adhering to established protocols.
  • Provide administrative support, such as responding to correspondence and coordinating supply orders.
  • Support the school's chemical safety and WHS requirements, promoting a safe working environment.

Key Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A recognized qualification in Chemical Safety/WHS (minimum Certificate III in Laboratory Skills) or equivalent training.
  • Experience in laboratory settings, preferably in a similar role.
