Water Resources Engineer Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Water Resources Engineer to join our Newcastle Water Team.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading water resources assessments, integrating water balance, water quality, flooding, and drainage aspects for traditional energy and resources projects and emerging asset transition applications.

You will work closely with our clients to provide creative solutions to fit their needs and support the management of multidisciplinary projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of environmental issues related to surface water management, particularly for energy and resource clients.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and reviewing hydrology and hydraulic modeling to inform planning studies through to detailed design of new infrastructure
  • Providing advanced analytical and spreadsheet abilities, with intermediate GIS capability preferred
  • Applying practical knowledge to complex assessments and design, with a focus on CAD (e.g., 12D, Civil3D, AutoCAD) coordination
  • Demonstrating professional judgment and commercial acumen, including identifying, assessing, evaluating, and solving problems to brief and budget
  • Developing business and relationship development skills to enhance our client portfolio and project delivery
  • Communicating complex issues concisely, with robust written and verbal skills
  • Coaching and mentoring to technically strengthen the team capabilities
  • Project management skills of water resources projects, including preparation and review of fee proposals, management of resources, budget, risks, and health and safety

Requirements include a Bachelor of Civil and/or Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
