Senior Legal Counsel Job Description

Are you a strategic legal thinker who excels in dynamic environments and enjoys collaborating across diverse portfolios of complex matters? We seek a Senior Legal Counsel to join our in-house team, working closely with the Chief Legal Officer. This is your opportunity to become a trusted advisor across all aspects of our business - from commercial and finance to exploration and governance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Play a pivotal role in safeguarding our interests by providing expert legal and regulatory advice across the business.
  • Lead the drafting and negotiation of a broad spectrum of commercial agreements - from procurement and mining services to banking and confidentiality contracts.
  • Support high-impact decisions on commercial, contractual, and corporations law matters, while shaping key operational initiatives with senior leadership.
  • Contribute to corporate governance for our dual listing and manage legal disputes with efficiency and fiscal discipline.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Successful candidates will have:

  • A minimum of 5–12 years post-admission experience (PAE), ideally within mining, resources, construction, or engineering.
  • Bachelor of Laws and admission to the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory, with a current practising certificate.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to simplify complex concepts for non-legal stakeholders.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to influence across all levels of the business.
  • Critical thinking, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
