About the Role

The Clean Energy Regulator is seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Manager to lead the Carbon Markets Branch. This is a key role in facilitating vibrant carbon markets and supporting Australia's transition to net zero emissions by 2050.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic direction for the branch to deliver legislative objectives and divisional priorities.
  • Lead the provision of strategic economic analysis insights and advice to support policy development and scheme delivery.
  • Identify opportunities, linkages, and risks within and across domestic and international carbon markets.
  • Communicate complex economic concepts to a wide range of audiences.
  • Support the agency's economic literacy and maturity in becoming commercially savvy.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications with a strong grounding in economic theory or equivalent work-based learning.
  • Outstanding leadership skills and a substantial record of achievement.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to present well at conferences.
  • Strong economic frameworks and demonstrated experience in policy advice, economic regulation, or financial markets.
